  • Q: Why do I need Driver's Education?

    A. In July 1999 Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration completely revamped its licensing procedure. The new licensing system became the Rookie Driver, Maryland's Graduated Licensing System (GLS). Under the new system, everyone, regardless of age, applying for a driver's license must satisfactorily complete a driver's education course.

  • Q: What does your course provide?

    A. We offer the 36-hour Maryland MVA-approved course. The course comprises thirty hours of classroom and six hours of in-car training. Thirty (30) hours of classroom instruction: There will be ten sessions; each session will be 3 hours and 15 minutes long with a 15-minute break between every 11/2 hours. Classes are Monday through Friday for two weeks. *Six (6) hours of in-car training. There will be three sessions lasting two hours per session. Driving times are made by appointment.

  • Q: Do I need a Learner's Permit to take your course?

    A. A learner's permit is not necessary to take Driver's Education in the State of Maryland. A learner's permit is required for in-car driving. Students must bring their birth certificates if they do not have their learner's permit.

  • Q: Who needs to attend?

    A. Any resident of Maryland, 15 years of age or older, interested in obtaining a driver's license.

  • Q: When and how do I register?

    A. Students may register in person by coming to the Good Start Driving School Office or over the phone Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM. New classes start every other Monday. Class seats are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are only 30 seats available in each class.

  • Q: How much does the class cost, and when should I pay?

    A. Sign up now for the 36-hour driver's education course and pay Good Start's Grand special discount. Please get in touch with the Good Start Driving School office for more information about the service fees. A deposit is due by the first day of class or in-car session. The remaining balance is due before students take their final class or session. Payments are accepted in cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover & American Express).
